Win for CA Small Business: Paid Family Leave Funding
Do you have a CA employee on Paid Family Leave between June 1, 2024 and May 31, 2026? If so, review this blog to see if you qualify for up to $2,000/employee back from the state!
As a business owner in California, you will encounter times when an employee must take Paid Family Leave (PFL) to care for a new child or a seriously ill family member. While you want to support your employees' need to take leave, this can naturally present some unique financial challenges for small- to medium-sized business owners. California is offering a grant to small businesses to help alleviate some costs that a small business may incur when an employee decides to take PFL. The Paid Family Leave Small Business Grant will pay up to $2,000 to small businesses impacted by Paid Family Leave to offset costs related to hiring or cross-training.
How Can Your Business Receive This Payment?
Payments are made directly to the employer and will cover costs for:
Training/cross-training existing staff to cover the duties of the employee on PFL.
Marketing, recruitment, and other reasonably foreseeable training costs.
